Your Voice & Your Vote: KUCSC Student Elections
The first KUCSC election cycle is here! Council is hiring for President, Vice President of Student Affairs, and Vice President of Student Events.
Are you interested in governance, building your connections, and growing your resume? Consider running for President, VPSA or VPSE! These are perfect opportunities to use your student voice and advocate for positive change on campus.
omination period is open! To run for President, VPSA, or VPSE, there are forms available located at the KUCSC office upstairs in the SLC. Or, you can print off the forms on our website, located here. You’ll have to collect signatures from students to start your campaign. The nomination period closes January 28th. The All Candidates meeting is on January 30th for students who have collected their signatures. This meeting has more details about the elections cycle.
Next, comes the campaigning period! This will occur from February 2nd to February 6th. This is where as students, you’ll learn about the platform points of prospective candidates.
Finally, ballots for voting will open on February 9th at 8am and close on February 10th at 8pm. This is where you can vote for the candidate that you align with the most!
So, curious as to what each of these positions entails?
Presidential Position
The President is the voice of the KUCSC and is the main liaison between Student Council and King’s administration. The President sits on many different committees to represent the student body and it is the President’s job to advocate for all students at King’s. The President also supports the other executives and their portfolios.
The President manages their own portfolio consisting of USC representatives, the Academic Council Student Liaison, the Governance Associate, and more!
Vice President of Student Affairs
The Vice President of Student Affairs (VPSA) represents the voice of the students and is the executive who is responsible for hearing the concerns of the student body. The VPSA works to ensure that students are being advocated for by overseeing events, initiatives, and sitting on committees with King’s administration. The VPSA manages KUCSC led projects like Christina’s Closet and the Food Locker.
The VPSA manages their own portfolio of faculty student representatives that advocate on behalf of their corresponding faculty.
Vice President of Student Events
The final position in this election period is the Vice President of Student Events. The VPSE creates events that allow Kings’ students to engage in the community and enhancing the student experience. They work with King’s Head Soph for O-week and coordinates the activities of different commissioners.
The VPSE works alongside Relay for Life Commissioners, a Club Coordinator, Charity Commissioners, and Grad Ball commissioners.
