Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t see your question? Check out our Elections Guide or reach out to info@kucsc.com with further inquiries.

What is the time commitment?

Executive roles typically require a minimum of 25 hours per week, and it’s recommended to take a reduced course load. Time commitments for other roles vary. On average, all members should anticipate a 3–5 hour/week commitment to their role.

Do I need prior experience?

No prior experience is necessary. Passion, dedication, and a willingness to learn are what matter most. While all students are welcome to apply for paid KUCSC positions, these roles are typically prioritized for individuals with prior student leadership experience. This experience helps ensure a strong understanding of the responsibilities and impact of the role.

What if I’m unsure about which position is best for me?

Reach out to current KUCSC members! We're always happy to chat about our role and experiences. Email info@kucsc.com or drop by the KUCSC office (KC 214).

Can I hold multiple positions?

No, each KUCSC member may only hold one position per academic year.

Can I join KUCSC and still participate in other extracurricular activities?

Yes! Many KUCSC members balance their roles with other extracurriculars, but time management is key, especially for Executive roles with higher commitments.

What technical media skills are required?

For media positions, it is beneficial that those applying have experience using basic camera equipment, Canva, and CapCut, dependent on the role. However, this experience is not required, and creativity is ultimately the most important asset!

What kind of events will I help plan?

Events range from social mixers and interactive fairs to academic panels and large-scale campus-wide events like Grad Ball and Get Involved Week. We have various roles for small or ongoing events, and you can focus on areas that match your interests and skill level.

Do I need to be an athlete to apply for an athletics role?

Not at all! These roles are open to anyone who’s passionate about promoting physical wellness and school spirit, whether or not you’re involved in varsity sports.
