Have Your Voice Heard: LTC Townhall Info Session

Who else hates having to walk all the way from Main Gate’s bus stop in order to get to campus? As a student without a car, I rely on the bus to get to and from my classes. When I get out of my 9:30pm lectures, the last thing I want to do is walk all the way to Main Gates in the dark to catch the bus. Well, the London Transit has finally decided to consider a new bus stop… on King’s campus.

On October 27th, all new suggestions for changes to the bus routes were presented to the Commission and now they’re in the stage of hearing what the public thinks. The LTC is coming to King’s on Tuesday, November 11, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. This meeting will be in the Kenny Theatre in SLC. This meeting will allow students to provide feedback to the LTC on the proposed changes and addition of a new bus stop. This is an opportunity for students to make their voices heard.

While the LTC has decided that adding a bus stop on King’s campus is not a priority for 2026, it is important that we let the LTC know how important this is to students. Hopefully this will allow for them to move the King’s bus stop up on the priority list. If people give up or stop speaking about how they want this, it will be moved down and forgotten about. So, come to the meeting and share your thoughts and feelings! If you can’t make the meeting, there are meetings off campus or you can fill out the online survey:

LTC guidelines say that you’re only supposed to have to travel 400 meters to a transit stop. From King’s University College, the closest bus stops are Huron at Waterloo (approximately 552 meters) and University Drive at Richmond (approximately 572 meters), but there are some limitations to service surrounding King’s. Specifically, there are no traffic signals at the Richmond and Epworth intersection which makes it difficult for an LTC bus to conduct an uncontrolled tight corner turn off of Epworth from the Eastbound direction. As well, a new additional bus would need to be added to extend the services to King’s University College since the current schedule of Route 27 would be unable to accommodate an additional stop. While there are these limitations, the LTC does plan to investigate these issues.

If you want a bus stop closer to King’s campus, make sure to provide your feedback at the info session on November 11th or through the online survey. Ensure that your voice is heard!
